I apologize that it has been so long since I have posted any updated information.
We had to find another doctor locally that would follow the instructions of my specialist at Stanford. The first doctor we had obtained was going ahead with treatment without any contact with my Stanford doctor and, as it turns out, he wanted a much more intense treatment program than what the first doctor was pursuing.
I’ve just now completed my first full cycle of treatment and will have a 10-day rest before the next cycle begins. I have had a lot of side effects and fatigue to deal with through out this first cycle and I have come to the conclusion that it is not going to be possible for me to do choir after all this fall. I apologize that I gave everyone hope that choir would happen. I am very disappointed as I do love doing choir and I will miss everyone.
My husband and I have prayed a lot about choir for the fall and feel that God is calling me to a time of healing and reflection. Part of my testimony to my students is my obedience to what the Lord is asking of me right now.
Please continue to pray for my healing. If you would like to contact me, you can reach me at the choir email: xlchoir@hotmail.com.

One treatment and on hold again!
I had my first treatment on Monday, August 27. I either contracted a virus or had a severe and lengthy reaction to the chemo drug - high fever, shaking chills, headache, body aches. The local doctor decided it must have been side effects after blood cultures came back negative. My Stanford nurse disagrees that what I experienced was side effects. She's never heard of anyone reacting so dramatically to the drug. A virus maybe? Anyway, it caused everything to stop while I took antibiotics for a week.
In the meantime we discovered that this doctor only works part time and it has contributed to poor communication as well as difficulty getting our schedules to fit for further treatment. So, we have switched to another doctor who has worked with my Stanford doctor before and is arranging for my treatments to be at one of the local hospitals so we have some flexibility in the schedule. I will begin treatment again next Tuesday and, hopefully, my treatments can move forward without further delay. My treatments will be on Tuesdays and Fridays with every third week off.
I'm sorry that I do not have a definite answer as yet regarding choir, but I'm hopeful after my treatments next week, I will have some idea how I'm going to be feeling. My hope and desire is that I will be able to continue to do choir.
Thanks for your continued prayers!
